One of the things I always wanted to do with this blog was to help myself and other moms delight in motherhood. Motherhood isn't easy. We are constantly in the trenches and giving of ourselves. As soon as we think we have it all figured out, it all changes again. This is both a season of joy and a season of hardships.
My heart behind She Takes Strides is to help moms delight in motherhood and the race God has called you to run. As a mom who has struggled with postpartum depression and anxiety, I don't want other moms to feel as alone as I once did. Being a mom, especially a stay-at-home mom, can be so incredibly lonely and isolating. It's an incredibly rewarding job but also the hardest. Combine that with the trials of depression and anxiety and it can make you feel alone, misunderstood, unseen, and forgotten.
As I progressed through my own journey with postpartum depression and anxiety, I felt the Lord calling me to step out in faith and be a voice of authenticity, hope, compassion, and truth for moms and for those walking with mental illness during motherhood.
We all have different paths we are walking and different trials we will face in motherhood but one thing we can all agree on is that we shouldn't walk this journey alone. My hope is that She Takes Strides will be even the smallest light in your day. A beacon of hope pouring God's truth, love and grace upon you, dear sister.
My desire and greatest hope is that the Lord would use She Takes Strides to help moms just like me and you to delight in motherhood. Even in the midst of diaper changes, feedings, potty training, tantrums, car pool lanes and everything in between, we are not called to walk in fear, anxiety, depression or resentment. The Lord wants us to see the beauty of this season. He is using this season to draw us closer to Him and surrender control. He has blessed us with these precious gifts and I pray that we would all delight in and enjoy this role and see the beauty that comes with shepherding our children.
Please check back as I continue to share my story, resources and other things that will help you in your journey to delight in motherhood and the race God has called you to run!
